James A. Doyle. Plant molecular systematics, classical systematics, and morphological cladistics: comments on thearticle of A. S. Antonov. // Journal of General Biology. 1999. V. 60. Number 3.

Abstract

Many conflicts between genosystematics and phenosystematics discussed in the reviewby A. S. Antonov reflect methods of analysis rather than kinds of data; cladistic analyses ofmorphological data agree more with molecular analyses. Molecular data have importantlimitations, and studies of both molecules and morphology will be needed for a completeunderstanding of plant evolution.
