The main directions of the scientific investigation

Flora, Taxonomy and Ecology of Fungi (Agaricales, Aphyllophorales, Pyrenomycetes, Discomycetes, Soil Mitotic Fungi, Lichenes, Myxomycetes; soil fungi interactions, micromycetes in living habitants; biocorrosion agents and protection against them).

Biology of Cultivated Edible Mushrooms (factors inducing morphogenesis of basidiomes in xylotrophic and saprotrophic mushrooms, role of extracellular enzymes and biologically active substances; population structure and intersterility groups in Pleurotus ostreatus; karyology and ultrastructure in Agaricus bisporus, genetics and breeding strategy in cultivated edible fungi).

Biology of Plant Pathogenic Fungi (population structure and genetics in Phytophthora infestans, Puccinia graminis, Botrytis spp.; morphology of phytopathogenic Dematiaceae, extracellular enzymes of Alternaria).

Flora and Ecology of Algae (flora of urban water reservoirs and preserved lands; monitoring of natural algae resources; ecophysiology of marine macromycetes).
